The SDMEC has been a natural progression of our Not for Profit work and we have now gained full charitable status, which will let us apply for funding to increase the work we do in this field. We have listed below some of our ideas of the work the SDMEC will carry out. We have set up a group of trustees who will guide the SDMEC through its set up, into an organisation in its own right.

SDMEC is registered charity number 1125147.

We are hoping to expand the work we do with other children's groups working with disabled, dysfunctional and disadvantaged children.

Promote the conservation and protection of the marine environment. this could include Supporting the work of Cornish Marine Life Rescue. It could support students in marine research projects.

At Trinity House we are in the ideal position to establish a marine environmental education centre or museum. This would raise awareness of the general public of the work the SDMEC carries out and of the problems the marine environment faces around the Cornish coast and in other parts of the world.

We are also looking at the role played by volunteers in the Centre and helping other young people in Cornwall. With this in mind we are looking at the possible establishment of an NVQ or similar training programme for those who may not be able to afford the time or money to obtain qualifications.

If you are interested in the work of the SDMEC please contact the Centre for more information. We will update this page of the website as we progress and can offer more information.
