A 3 hour classroom based course looking at the sea as a giant dustbin.  The course can also be run as a whole day to include a practical beach clean.  The data recorded will then be forwarded to the Marine Conservation Society as part of their national surveys. 

Students attending the course will learn about the problems of marine pollution, with a focus on marine litter. 

Sources and items
An introduction to marine litter and where it comes from.
Which items are most commonly found and why.

Impacts
Looking at who and what is affected by marine pollution and the problems they may face because of it.
How long does the litter remain in our environment.

Surveying
Reviewing surveys regarding marine litter and looking at the various conservation organisations and campaigns.

What can be done?
A basic introduction to legislation past, present and future.
Discussion on what we can do as individuals

 
Course price £12 (as at 01/06)
