An opportunity to visit our local rocky shores with an experienced guide to help you identify the Cornish marine life. This is a chance for everyone to learn about coastal ecology in Cornwall and how habitats vary between our north and south coasts.
The safari will also be an opportunity to learn about conservation organisations and programmes involved in protecting coastal habitats. Species found during the safari will be noted and the data recorded as part of our own local survey.

This practical workshop is open to everyone, whether you have snorkeled before or never experienced the underwater world. An experienced guide will lead you along areas of the coast rich in marine life, helping you to identify a variety of habitats and the species they support.
The safari will also give an introduction to conservation organisations and programmes involved in protecting coastal habitats. Species found during the safari will be noted and the data recorded as part of our own local survey.

Visit one of our local beaches or coves to learn about the flotsam and jetsam left along the strandline. Staff from the Centre will help you to identify different items and introduce you to the variety of surveys the strandline has to offer.
Learn about different conservation organisations and the programmes they run which you can become involved with. Some examples include The Shark Trust’s – Eggcase survey, the Marine Conservation Society’s – Jellyfish survey and the work of MarLIN. The data you collect during this workshop will be given to these organisations and become part of their national survey records.

This practical workshop will give an introduction to the ever increasing problem of marine litter and pollution. Learn about why the sea is treated as a dustbin and what harm it can do to marine life. See what items of marine litter you find during the workshop and learn why some are more abundant than others. Each beach visited will be different – why do some shores have more litter than others?
Whilst cleaning the beach, see how litter items are recorded and surveyed to help produce reports highlighting the increasing levels of pollution in the worlds oceans. The data you collect during this workshop will be given to organisations such as the MCS for their national survey records.
Prices will vary according to workshop type and duration.
